One of the memorable moments at the 2009 NPM Convention liturgy celebration was the performance of this setting by Alan Hommerding of the celebratory Cameroon processional song based on Psalm 96. The joyous, syncopated refrain becomes second nature after the first sing-through. The well-conceived multilingual setting incorporates verses sung in English, Spanish, Latin, French, Filipino, and Hebrew. Phonetic pronunciations and a suggested percussion pattern can be found within the body of the octavo. Here is a piece that can truly unite the entire church in glorious song.
Topic:  Procession; Dismissal Rite; Corpus Christi Procession; Praise; Joy; Blessing; Song; Name of God; Immaculate Conception; Christmas Mass at Midnight
Sunday of the Year:  Ordinary Time 2 Year C; Ordinary Time 29 Year A; Pentecost
Scripture:  Based on Psalm 96
Sing to the Lord, Hallelu! Listen
Performance Notes: Composer suggests djembe or congas, and shekere or guiro. Patterns can be found on page 5.
