This setting is the perfect way to introduce your parish to the revised Gloria text during the Christmas season. Written for WLP in 1990 (known then as "Chant Style Gloria") by well-known composer Br. Howard Hughes, SM, it was adapted by Alan Hommerding for the 2011 translation The Roman Missal. Featuring the beloved refrain "Gloria in Excelsis Deo" from "Angels We Have Heard on High" the setting has simple and accessible verses in chant style that your cantors will learn quickly. The third verse and final refrain feature an optional descant, and the final refrain has an alternate harmony. The accompaniment is accessible for both organ and piano, and includes chord symbols for guitarists.
Liturgical Season:  Christmas
