M.D. Ridge is a composer of liturgical music and a pastoral musician who has been making the most of limited resources since 1972. She has published four collections of liturgical music (OCP, GIA) and numerous choral octavos for WLP and various publishers. Her compositions and texts appear in many hymnals and compilations in the United States, Britain and Canada. Her commissioned works include music and texts written for communities in Virginia, Michigan, Minnesota, West Virginia, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Indiana, and New York.

In addition to writing music, she is a longtime journalist, editor and author, whose articles have appeared in liturgical and secular publications in the United States, Canada and England. Her commentary on life, liturgy and music appears on the website of the Center for Liturgy at St. Louis University (http://liturgy.slu.edu/). She holds a bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College, Syracuse, N.Y., which in 2009 gave her its Ignatian Award for professional achievement. She has served parishes in the dioceses of Arlington, San Diego and Richmond, as well as the Military Archdiocese. Now retired from active parish ministry, she currently serves as liturgy and music resource for her small faith community.

She has written features and reviews for numerous secular publications in Southeastern Virginia, and currently reviews music and the arts for public radio station WHRO in Norfolk, Virginia.

She passed away on Monday, June 5 2017.
