Indiana composer and arranger Kevin Demetroff has adapted the Serbian Easter folk song Hristos Voskrese, Radost Donese for Western choirs. The simple, joyful melody is augmented by percussion and optional C instrument. The assembly joins in the acclamation. The text, translated by Kevin, is by Nikolaj Velimirović, a saint and bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Church who spent his final years in the United States. The text is reminiscent of the Canticle of Daniel and calls all of creation to rejoice that Christ is risen.
