This Charles Wesley text is a prayer that the light and guidance of Christ be a gift to us every day. Many phrases resonate with the Easter season: Christ’s glory fills the skies (Easter and Ascension), we long to see Christ's "mercy beams" (Divine Mercy Sunday), and we pray that our unbelief will be scattered (Thomas, the companions on the road to Emmaus, and all the disciples struggling to believe in the Resurrection). Kyle Johnson's deft use of mixed meter imbues the piece with lightness and energy. The contrasting central verse in 4/4 and minor mode captures the more somber nature of that text, and leads back to the joy of the final verse. If your three-part choir can sing a unison melody, a three-part hymn, and add a descant, they can be successful with this piece.
