Section Title

During the past 25 years, Michael Bogdan has served as a pastoral musician on diocesan, cathedral, and parish levels. His background in music (classical guitar performance, theory, and composition) and liturgy (including the historical development of Christian Initiation) have enabled him to work in a variety of pastoral circumstances. The late pastoral liturgists Eugene Walsh and Robert Hovda have been primary influences on his life and work.

In the recent past, Michael was composer-in-residence at Maple Mount in Kentucky, where he produced "Cantata in Community" on texts by St. Angela Merici, founder of the Ursulines. His published music includes liturgical music as well as sacred concert pieces. He is currently completing a suite of liturgical songs for children.

Michael produced a workbook for couples preparing their wedding liturgy, which has been adapted by dozens of parishes throughout the past 10 years. As a consultant, he is invited to parishes to assist with evaluating parish funeral practices, and has recently given workshops on the psalms of the season of Advent.
