Born in Clark, New Jersey, Mike Novak has degrees in theology from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. Prior to joining the editorial staff at WLP as Bulletin/Parish Resources Editor, he worked for eight years in the Office for Prayer and Worship of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. With years of parish and campus ministry experience, he writes and presents talks and workshops on liturgy, music, the catechumenate, and the sacraments. He is a past member of the national board of directors of the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions, and has taught Christian initiation as adjunct faculty at St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is the author of articles that have appeared in Ministry and Liturgy, Catechumenate, AIM, and Prayer & Worship.
Mike's responsibilities at WLP include oversight of the Sunday bulletin materials produced in print and online by J. S. Paluch and used by more than three thousand parishes. Books he has edited include the art and reflection books In Shining Splendor and Canticle, and the three-volume compilations Scripture Soundings and Sunday by Sunday. He recently authored Called to Be Your Song, a collection of prayers for cantors and song leaders, part of WLP’s Pray Today series. He was the project manager for the publication of WLP’s award-winning edition of The Roman Missal: Third Edition.
