In the manuscript of Julian of Norwich's meditation, "All Will Be Well," one is struck by the mantra-like quality of the passage. This setting tries to embrace that repetitive style in a musical manner. At the Univesity of Notre Dame, this reflective piece has been used at times of transfer and departure (memorial services, last visit of the senior class to Sacred Heart church and the Grotto), weekly preparation for Sunday Eucharist, especially during Advent and Lent. But the most powerful use comes in conjunction with momoents of profound healing: services of reconciliation and anointing of the sick. In these contexts, the verses take on a life of their own and speak to the heart of all gathered.
