Bread of Heaven
A native of the Philadelphia, Pa. area, Kathleen was transplanted to Houston, Texas with her family as a freshman in high school. Shortly thereafter, at the age of 14, she organized the first youth ensemble in her parish and began writing and arranging music for them. Since then, her service as an active pastoral musician in many capacities ranging from choir member, cantor, choir director or accompanist, to full time Director of Music and Liturgy in parishes in the Houston area has spanned over 30 years. Kathleen has also served as a classroom music teacher and choir director on both elementary and secondary levels in public and private schools, and has also held private piano studio, been a vocal coach, cantor, and accompanist in churches and schools throughout the Houston area. Kathleen currently serves full time as Associate Director of Music at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Spring, Texas where she directs the Youth and Children’s Choral program, and an annual summer choral camp for over 150 young singers.

Kathleen holds a B.M.E. in piano and vocal/choral studies from Baylor University, and an M.M. in Music Theory and Composition from Sam Houston State University, where several of her academic compositions were featured at various regional conferences and performances via the Society of Composers. In 2009, she was named to the National Scholars Honor Society.

Kathleen’s liturgical composing began as a response to the needs of her parish community and has taken many shapes since then. Her multi-faceted background working in diverse parish and classroom settings, and with musicians, choirs and ensembles of all ages, skill levels, and styles has grown in her a passion for liturgical music which she infuses into her every day ministry and her eclectic writing for various genres and styles.

Kathleen served as Director of the NPM Galveston-Houston Chapter from 2005-2013, and also served on the National Council of Chapters for NPM 2009-2013. In 2009 she also completed NPM's DMMD Certification with a concentration in choral conducting. She has been the presenter/clinician for numerous workshops on liturgical music ministry and is active in numerous professional organizations.
